Soo I've realized now that although I'm using the same extrusion to make the slot, the length of the opening has been altered so I've abandoned those guys.
And since I printed with support material (thinking that the angles on the sides might need it) the space in between the two vertical pieces was filled in.
And there for so are the slots.
The other issue I've found is that, although I used the same curve from my test, it's smaller now, and wouldn't accommodate the ruler anyways.
Sad.
